If life is a book, I’ve written my way through a few drafts now.
After majoring in psychology and minoring in English at Wake Forest University, I earned graduate degrees from James Madison University. A two-decade career as a school psychologist followed, during which I spent most of my time conducting student evaluations and crafting reports to summarize the results. Through immersion in this field, I developed expertise in making technical information accessible to a wide audience of readers.
A longstanding love of creative writing eventually inspired a shift into employment as a content/copy writer and editor for Hawaii’s top-volume luxury real estate brokerage. While entrusted with this position, I composed and refined high-quality web content to enhance the online presence and status of the company. I also wrote and edited marketing copy, white papers, SOPs, and other materials for company-wide distribution.
In life’s latest revision, I’ve taken on a new writing-intensive role in the field of civil rights – and through Kōkua Writing & Editing, I have the opportunity to channel my creative energy into freelance projects. Although I continue to specialize in writing about real estate, lifestyle, travel/tourism, and of course psychology-related topics, I have experience with everything from editing art historical book chapters to writing product descriptions for socks.
